April 2000 - IR35
The IR35 legislation for service companies and partnerships comes into force.

April 2000 - Another Katie
Katie Snow, MAAT., joined the firm in late March 2000. Katie, who had previously worked for a Scarborough firm of Chartered Accountants, is a qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians. She is currently studying for the final professional exams of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

July 2000 - Threshold for audits increased
Most limited companies with a turnover below one million pounds need not have their accounts audited. This is effective for financial years ended after 26 July 2000. The requirement for companies to prepare accounts and file them at Companies House remains in place.

September 2000 -
If you are interested in having your own website or registering a domain name, we can put you in touch with one of our clients. A domain name registration, the writing of a 5 page website and site hosting for one year costs a total of £499 plus VAT (as at September 2000).

October 2000 - Majors Website launched
After several months with just a holding page on the Web, this site was eventually launched in October 2000. The delay was, of course, the fault of our boss; he was determined to learn yet another skill, HTML, and write the site himself. Hope the site proves useful, but please remember that the site is still in development. Come back in a few weeks and there should be much more to see.

July 2001 - Richard joins
Richard Slater, MAAT., joined the firm in early July 2001. A qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians, he is currently studying for the professional exams of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

February 2002 - Congratulations, Katie
Katie Snow, MAAT., who joined the firm in late March 2000, passed the final professional exams of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Well done, Katie
